John's Story
I was discharged from USMC 1964, moved to the Pacific Northwest in May of 1966, been here ever since.
I enjoy the out doors hunting and fishing, camping and I used to hike allot. 30 years as a general contractor I was forced to retire medical problems.
I remember my first love at Harrington than fallowed to Sants Fe High. She broke up with me and was married at SantaFe High, sent a message inviting me to her wedding.
We all have stories like that.
Retired here on the Olympic Peninisula, I really enjoy it.
My brother Gerald and family is still in SantaFe, he cliams it is Gods country, I suppose all of it is Gods.
I have two children in SantaFe a son and daughter, they do not plan on living. My daughter gave my three wonderful grand kids, boy's and they in return have blessed our family with five great grand kids.
I look forward to hearing from former class mates and I would like information on reunions if any planned.
Due to medical problems I am unable to make the reunion in August 2012, 50 years, WOW what happened to the time. I really remeber some great class mates from SantaFe and hope all of them the best as they go through the golden years. It is my expierence that the golden years is not talking about money, good times, not even the grand kids and great grand kids, but have you noticed the tiolet lately, HA-HA, meant to be a joke.
My odsession other ...Expand for more
than pastoring and work is fishing, here I fish for many deferent kinds of fish and have learned to like to eat most of them. I told my wife when we met that I had no time time for marriage, I hunt and fish and here we do that year around, it didn't work and I have a fine wife. The funniest story when it comes to fishing is learning to dig cliams and pick oysters both we used for bait around SantaFe for catching cat fish and trout. After a few weeks out here a person I met talked me into cliam digging with him, to make it short he eat and washed dawn raw cliams with beer all day, it was many years latter before I could dig for cliams, now I love steamed cliams and fried oysters.
My biggest surprise has been how will I have adapted to the damp weather in this part of the country. Many people think it rains all the time, but our anual rain fall is much less than allot of the US but we live surrounded by water and when the temp changes we get over cast damp weather, normal for cold water and warmer air. We are the cloudest part of the country but our humidity is much less than the southern states. Due to the constant air change, we have less polution than any where else in the US.
My current age is 68. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be old. I was so completely wrong.
I am surprized at how old pictures of my high school friends look HA-HA.
